Bill Tilden



Tilden, Bill (William Tatem Tilden, Jr.; 1893–1953), U.S. tennis player. Known for his powerful serve and strong forehand, from 1920 to 1930 he was the top-ranked U.S. player, and led the U.S. team to 7 Davis Cup titles (1920–26). Other victories include 3 Wimbledon titles (1920, 21, 30) and 7 U.S. Open titles (1920–25, 29).
