Toulouse

Toulouse (pop. 365,900), historically significant city in southwestern France, located on the Garonne River. It is the capital and administrative seat of the district of Haute-Garonne. During the Middle Ages, it served as an artistic and cultural center of Europe. Many medieval buildings, including the University of Toulouse, still stand. The city supports many economic activities, including the manufacture of electronics, aircraft, chemicals, and textiles.
