Trachea

Trachea, conduit by which air reaches the lungs from the pharynx. Air is drawn in through the mouth or nose and passes via the larynx into the trachea, which then divides into the major bronchi. It may be seen below the Adam's apple. In a tracheostomy, it is incised to bypass any obstruction to respiration.
