Truffle

Truffle, underground fungus (genus Tuber) that has long been regarded as a delicacy. Pigs and dogs are trained to find them by scent. Some grow up to 2.2 lb (1 kg) and resemble potatoes; most are much smaller. They have not yet been cultivated on a wide scale, but there are attempts underway.
