Jonathan Trumbull



Trumbull, Jonathan (1710–85), governor of Connecticut (1769–84). The only governor to support the patriotic cause before the Revolutionary War, he later helped supply colonial troops with ammunition, food, and clothing. A statue of Trumbull was installed at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., in 1872.
