Sir Edward Burnett Tylor

Tylor, Sir Edward Burnett (1832–1917), British anthropologist. A pioneer in the field, he was an authority on animism and primitive mentality. His books Research into the Early History of Mankind (1865) and Primitive Culture (1871) were among the earliest works on anthropology as a social science. Additional theories were expounded in Anthropology (1881).
