Uruguay River

Uruguay River, southern South American river. Originating in southern Brazil, it flows for 1,000 mi (1,600 km) first west and then south before finally emptying into the Rio de la Plata, a huge estuary on the Atlantic coast. It forms part of the Argentine-Brazil border and all of the Argentine-Uruguay border.
