Valois

Valois, royal house of France that ruled 1328–1589. The first Valois king was Philip VI; under his rule and that of his descendants, the Valois region of France was a Duchy held by family members. The rule of the Valois Dynasty survived the Hundred Years War (1337–1453), and other conflicts. With the death of Henry III (1589), the crown passed to the house of Bourbon.
