Lucas Van Leyden
Van Leyden, Lucas (1494?–1533), Dutch engraver and painter. Van Leyden's engravings are finely executed compositions without any particular central character. His engraving technique, utilizing precise cutting strokes, created depth and the illusion of light and shadow. His works include Abraham and Isaac, Ecce Homo, and The Milkmaid (all early 1500s).
