Jules Verne
Verne, Jules (1828–1905), French novelist, pioneer of the genre of science fiction. He often incorporated genuine scientific principles in his imaginative adventure fantasies and anticipated the airplane, submarine, television, space travel, etc. His most famous novels include Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).
