Videotape

Videotape, magnetic tape used to record television programs. In order to record the vast amounts of information necessary to reconstruct a television picture, 2-in- (5-cm-) wide tape must be run through the tape heads at 15 in (38 cm) per sec. The tape heads rotate to record the track crosswise on the tape.
