Rudolf Virchow



Virchow, Rudolf (1821–1902), Pomeranian-born German pathologist. His most important work was to apply knowledge concerning the cell to pathology. He was the first to document leukemia and embolism. He was also distinguished as an anthropologist and an archeologist.
