Volkswagen
Volkswagen (German, “the people's car”), one of the world's largest producers of passenger cars. It was established by the German government in 1937 and is now owned privately. The Volkswagen beetle, designed by the Austrian engineer Ferdinand Porsche in the mid-1930s, became the most popular car ever built. Volkswagen builds over 2.5 million cars annually in countries throughout the world. In 1998 Volkswagen took over Rolls-Royce.
