Walloons

Walloons, French-speaking people (chiefly Celtic), inhabitants of southern Belgium and adjacent areas of France. The Walloons, who make up about 40% of Belgium's population, have often been at odds with the Flemish-speaking majority, who have resented French political and cultural domination. Separate regional administrations were set up in 1974.
