August von Wasserman
Wasserman, August von (1866–1925), German physician and scientist. In 1906 he developed a process, known as the Wasserman test, which indicated syphilis infection through the testing of blood or spinal fluid. Earlier, Wasserman had developed inoculations against cholera, diphtheria, and tuberculosis.
