Archibald Percival Wavell t earl (1s)

Wavell, Archibald Percival, 1st earl (1883–1950), British field marshal. He was British commander-in-chief in the Middle East during World War II, defeating the Italians in North Africa (1940–41). He served as viceroy and governor general of India from 1943 to 1947.
