Weevil

Weevil, any of 35,000 species of oval- or pear-shaped beetles (from the largest animal family, Curculionidae), having a greatly drawn-out head that ends in a pronounced snout. They feed on hard vegetable matter, seeds, and wood; the larvae, which develop within seeds, are legless. Weevils are pests of such important economic crops as cotton and grain and of stored peas, beans, and flour.
