Arnold Wesker
Wesker, Arnold (1932– ), English playwright, one of the so-called angry young men to emerge in England in 1956. His early plays, such as the trilogy Chicken Soup with Barley (1958), Roots (1959), and I'm Talking About Jerusalem (1960), are committed to the ideals of socialism. The later, more introspective Chips with Everything (1962) and The Friends (1970) explore themes of private pain.
