Sir Charles Wheatstone
Wheatstone, Sir Charles (1802–75), British physicist and inventor. He popularized the “Wheatstone bridge” for measuring voltages and, with W.F. Cooke, invented the electric telegraph at about the same time as U.S. inventor Samuel F.B. Morse (1837).
