Whirlaway
Whirlaway (1938–53), U.S. Thoroughbred winner of the U.S. Triple Crown (1941). Whirlaway was the winner of 32 of his 60 races; established a Kentucky Derby record for speed; and broke earnings records for racehorses when awarded $500,000. Whirlaway was retired in 1943 after a leg injury.
