Paul Dudley White
White, Paul Dudley (1886–1973), U.S. physician, prominent cardiologist. White was an early advocate of diet and exercise for the prevention of heart attacks, and was one ofthe first to use electrocardiograms for diagnosis of heart disease. His book Heart Disease (1931), in its original and numerous revised editions, became a standard text in the field. He became well known as Dwight D. Eisenhower's cardiologist following the president's heart attack. In 1971 White visited the People's Republic of China to study medicine in that country.
