Whitehorse
Whitehorse (pop. 15,200), capital of the Yukon Territory, located on the west bank of the Yukon River, 111 mi (179 km) north of Skagway, Alaska. Its economy centers on mining, tourism, transportation, and government services. Whitehorse was the site of the Klondike gold rush of 1897–98.
