John Hay Whitney

Whitney, John Hay (1904–82), U.S. diplomat and publisher. He was active in Republican politics and served as ambassador to Great Britain (1957–61). He published the New York Herald Tribune (1961–67), served as chairperson of the International Herald Tribune (from 1967), and published several prominent U.S. magazines.
