Windermere



Windermere, lake in the northwestern Cumbria section of England, better known as the Lake District. This, the largest lake in England, measures 10.5 mi (16.9 km) long and 1 mi (1.6 km) at its widest point, with a total area of 5.69 sq mi (14.7 sq km). It is a popular resort area described in the poetry of the 19th-century English romantic poets William Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge, among others.
