Women's Christian Temperance Union

Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), U.S. organization seeking legislation against the consumption of alcohol. Founded in 1874, it became a worldwide organization in 1883 through the efforts of Frances Willard. It also conducts research into tobacco and narcotics.
