Worsted

Worsted, type of yarn known for its strength and its smooth, shiny texture. It was first produced in Worsted, England. It is made by combing the wool fibers into parallel layers before they are spun. Worsted yams are frequently used in knitting. The term worsted also refers to any fabric made with worsted yarns.
