Yellow poplar



Yellow poplar, or tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), tall hardwood tree of the magnolia family, native to eastern North America. It is the tallest broadleaf tree of eastern North America, its straight trunk growing to a height of 200 ft (60 m) and a diameter of 10 ft (3 m). The light-colored wood is widely used for furniture, veneer, plywood, and crates. Nectar from its tulip-shaped yellow and green flowers is an important source of honey.
