Alaska Boundary Dispute
Alaska Boundary Dispute, disagreement concerning the demarcation of the border between the Alaska Panhandle and Canada, which arose in 1898 during the Klondike gold rush. Skagway and the head of the Lynn Canal, through which supplies reached the Yukon, were claimed as Canadian territory. The question was settled in favor of the United States by a joint U.S.-British commission in 1903.
