Louisa May Alcott



Alcott, Louisa May (1832–88), U.S. author; daughter of Bronson Alcott. Her best-known work is the autobiographical Little Women (1869). Another important work, Hospital Sketches (1863), was based on her experiences as a Union nurse in the Civil War.
