Aldehyde



Aldehyde, any of a class of highly reactive organic chemical compounds characterized by a CHO group; especially, acetaldehyde (C2H4O). Formaldehyde (CH2O) is a pungent gaseous aldehyde used commonly as a disinfectant and preservative and in making resins and plastics.
