Ethan Allen

Allen, Ethan (1738–89), American Revolutionary hero, leader of the Green Mountain Boys of Vermont. In 1775 he seized the British fort at Ticonderoga but was captured in an attack on Montreal. He unsuccessfully petitioned Congress for Vermont's statehood.
