Woody Allen
Allen, Woody (Allen Stewart Konigsberg; 1935–), U.S. comedian, author, and film director. A self-effacing wit established him as a major comedic talent of the 1960s and 1970s. Following a nightclub career he broke into films (1965) and wrote, directed, and starred in successes like Bananas (1971), the Academy Award-winning Annie Hall (1977), and Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989). Deconstructing Harry was the opening film at the 1997 Venice Film Festival. In December 1997 Allen married Soon-Yi.
