Amateur Athletic Union

Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), U.S. nonprofit organization, founded in 1888, that promotes and encourages amateur sports. The AAU sponsors the annual Junior Sports and Junior Olympic Games and other athletic competitions and presents the James E. Sullivan Award annually to the country's outstanding amateur athlete.
