Saint Ambrose
Ambrose, Saint (c. A.D. 340–397), important Father of the Latin Church. A Roman governor who became the influential bishop of Milan, he attacked imperial moral standards and strengthened the position of the Church amid the ruins of the Roman Empire by his preaching and writing. St. Augustine was one of his converts.
