American Legion

American Legion, organization fostering the welfare, and protecting the rights of United States veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Ongoing activities of the legion include building and maintaining community centers, parks, and recreation facilities; providing equipment for hospitals and other health care endeavors; care and help for disabled United States veterans; sponsorship of scout troops; annual oratory contests for high school students to promote study of the United States Constitution; and furtherance of education and employment services.
