Jabez Lamar Monroe Curry
Curry, Jabez Lamar Monroe (1825–1903), U.S. educator who promoted the education of both black and white children in the South. He represented the Peabody Fund for public education and the Slater Fund for the establishment of black schools after 1890. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives (1857–1861) and was president of Howard College (1865–1868).
