Charles Curtis



Curtis, Charles (1860–1936), vice president of the United States under Herbert Hoover (1929–33). Curtis's mother was part Kaw, and he fought for Native American rights, in addition to supporting farm and veteran benefits. He served as U.S. senator (1907–13, 1915–29) before becoming vice president.
