Daedalus

Daedalus, in Greek mythology, architect and sculptor. He built a labyrinth for King Minos of Crete. When the king attempted to keep him on the island against his will, he tried to escape by fashioning wax wings for himself and his son Icarus. Daedalus reached Sicily, but Icarus flew too close to the sun; the wings melted, and he fell into the sea.
