John William Davis



Davis, John William (1873–1955), U.S. politician and Democratic presidential candidate in 1924, losing to Calvin Coolidge. After his unsuccessful bid for the presidency, he returned to private law practice. A distinguished constitutional lawyer, he argued 140 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.
