Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach (pop. 370,712), city in northeastern Florida, 90 mi (145 km) southeast of Jacksonville. Founded in 1870, it is made up of the former communities of Daytona, Daytona Beach, and Seabreeze, which were consolidated and incorporated as Daytona Beach in 1926. Tourism is the area's principal industry. Its hard, flat 23-mi (37-km) long beach has been used for automobile speed trials since 1903.
