Peter Joseph William Debye



Debye, Peter Joseph William (1884–1966), Dutch physical chemist chiefly known for the Debye-Hückel theory of ionic solution (1923). He was awarded the 1936 Nobel Prize in chemistry and was head of the chemistry department of Cornell University (1940–50).
