The Decameron

Decameron, The, collection of 100 stories (written 1348–53) by the Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio. Amusing and often bawdy, the tales are considered among the masterpieces of Italian and world literature. They also provide a shrewd commentary on 14th-century Italian life.
