John Dee



Dee, John (1527–1628), English philosopher and mathematician accused of sorcery against Queen Mary. He was tried and acquitted by the Star Chamber (1555). Dee created special reports for Queen Elizabeth detailing the geographical and aquatic characteristics of newly discovered regions. He also wrote several treatises on alchemy, navigation, and mathematics.
