Charles Demuth
Demuth, Charles (1883–1935), U.S. watercolorist and illustrator. Influenced by both cubism and expressionism, Demuth worked in a number of styles, but is best known for his precise and delicate studies of flowers and his stark, simple shapes inspired by the machine age. He is also noted for his illustrations of works by Edgar Allan Poe, Emile Zola, and Henry James.
