Josquin Desprez
Desprez, Josquin (1440?–1521), Flemish composer who wrote both secular and sacred music for voice. He excelled at the canon, a composition in which a single melody is sung by several voices starting at different times, and the motet, an unaccompanied choral piece in which several voices sing different pitches to produce chords.
