Dog racing
Dog racing, spectator sport in which people gamble on dogs chasing a mechanical hare (or other lure) around a track which is generally .25 mi (.4 km) in diameter. Greyhounds, the most common racing dog, can reach speeds of over 40 mph (64 kph). Each year over $3 billion is bet on dog-racing.
