Marie Jeanne Bécu Du Barry Countess

Du Barry, Marie Jeanne Bécu, Countess (1743–93), last mistress of Louis XV of France. Her years as mistress (1769–74) were marked by her generosity and good nature but little political influence. She was executed in Paris for aiding royalist émigrés during the French Revolution.
