Duck hawk



Duck hawk, name used in the United States for the peregrine falcon, a bird that can fly at speeds of more than 200 mi (320 km) per hour. Peregrines range from 13 to 19 in (33 to 48 cm) long. They fly high and dive at tremendous speeds, killing their prey (ducks and shorebirds) upon impact. The peregrine falcon was the first animal in the United States declared an endangered species.
