Paul Laurence Dunbar
Dunbar, Paul Laurence (1872–1906), African American poet and novelist. His poems about black rural life were influenced by the sentimental dialect poems of James Whitcomb. His works include Lyrics of Lowly Life (1896) and the novel The Sport of the Gods (1902).
