Amelia Earhart
Earhart, Amelia (1898–1937), U.S. pioneer aviator. She was the first transatlantic woman passenger (1928) and the first solo transatlantic woman pilot (1932), and made the first solo flight from Hawaii to the U.S. mainland (1935). She disappeared over the Pacific Ocean during an around-the-world flight in 1937.
